MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Over 1,000 people were on hand in the Kenyon Arena on Monday to watch the U.S.A. Women's Hockey Olympic Team take on the Green Mountain Glades boy’s team. Hundreds of canned goods were donated at the door and were delivered to the Addison County Food Shelf.

The Glades won the game 8-6 with four third period goals. Taylor Juneau led the Glades with two goals, while Kyle Tetrault and Christopher Chen had three assists apiece.

Natalie Darwitz led Team U.S.A. with a goal and two assists, while Krissy Wendell and Kristin King had a goal and an assist apiece.

Following the game, several hundred fans gathered by the locker room, waiting to meet and get autographs from the players. Wendell, the team captain, was excited about the day. “We weren’t expecting this many people to come out today and support us,” said Wendell. “It was such a great feeling to have this much support as we prepare for the upcoming Olympics.”

Earlier in the day, two members of the team, Angela Ruggiero and Kathleen Kauth spoke during men's hockey coach Bill Beaney's winter term class titled "Coaching Young Athletes".
