Steinhorn was part of two plays that led to Amherst’s fourth conference championship in program history. His RBI single in the bottom of the 12th inning allowed Amherst to walk off with a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over Bates in its opening game of the NESCAC Championship. In the bottom of the seventh in the championship game, with Amherst trailing Tufts 2-1, Steinhorn used his speed and heads-up base running to score from second base on a fielder’s choice in the infield. As the Jumbos tried to turn a double play to end the inning, Steinhorn beat the throw at the plate to give Amherst the lead.
