Matt Chlastawa, Bates Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week

After breaking the Bates career assists record last week with his 112th, Chlastawa dished out nine more assists in a 2-0 week for the Bobcats and added six goals for 15 points. He had four goals and three assists in a 14-12 win at Bowdoin, followed by two goals and six assists at Connecticut College. Chlastawa leads the NESCAC in assists (41)and points (67).

Emily Games, Tufts Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week

Games netted 10 goals, won five draw controls, and dished out three assists to notch 13 points in a 3-0 week for the Jumbos. Games tallied four goals, an assist, and three draw controls in a 21-13 win over Williams. She followed up with three goals and two assists in a 17-10 win over Wesleyan, going 3-for-4 on free position shots. She added three goals and caused three turnovers in a 24-10 victory over Babson.

Jareno had multiple hits in all five games in a 3-2 week, batting .478 and slugging .739 with three doubles, one home run, one stolen base, three runs scored, and five RBIs. Jareno hit a solo home run in the fourth inning and doubled home the go-ahead run in the eighth inning in Bates’ 5-2 victory over Trinity on Saturday as the Bobcats won the series over the Bantams.

Andrew Ferrero, Amherst Baseball Pitcher of the Week

Senior • Pitcher • San Francisco, Calif.

Ferrero threw a complete game shutout in a 7-0 win over Williams to help the Mammoths win the series over the Ephs. He struck out six batters and gave up four hits over seven innings.

Ashleah Yzaguirre, Hamilton Softball Player of the Week

Senior • Catcher/Utility • Studio City, Calif.

Yzaguirre hit .438 (7-for-16) with eight runs scored, four RBIs, and a .938 slugging percentage in a 4-1 week. Five of her seven hits went for extra bases and she walked twice. In a 7-6 win over Wesleyan, she went 3-for-3 with a walk, two triples, and scored three runs. She doubled and drove in a run in Game 2 versus the Cardinals Saturday. She drove in a run and scored at least once in four of the five games on the week.S he went 2-for-3 and doubled in Game 1 against Morrisville St. and tripled and drove in a run in the nightcap as Hamilton swept the doubleheader.

Kirsten Pelletier, Bates Softball Pitcher of the Week

Pelletier threw back-to-back, seven-inning shutouts on Saturday, tossing a one-hitter and a two-hitter, as the Bobcats completed a sweep of Colby. In a 4-0 week for Bates, Pelletier was 3-0 with a save. She posted a 0.88 ERA over 24.0 innings, striking out 22 batters and limited opponents to a .161 batting average. 

Henry Buren, Amherst Men's Track Performer of the Week

First Year • Kansas City, Mo.

At the Amherst Spring Fling Invitational, Buren won the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.96 to set a new school record. The mark is tied for first in the NESCAC. Buren also finished second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.10.

John Rex, Bates Men's Field Performer of the Week
John Rex
Bates College
Sophomore • Andover, Mass.

Rex won the hammer throw with a mark of 55.46 meters at the MIT Quad meet. The mark ranks second in the conference. Rex also earned a sixth-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 13.72 meters.

Christina Scartelli, Amherst Women's Track Performer of the Week

Senior • Bethlehem, Pa.

Scartelli won the 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:13:38 at the Spring Fling Invitational. The time was a Division III New England qualifying mark and puts her at the top of the NESCAC in the event.

Peace Kabari, Trinity Women's Field Performer of the Week

Junior • Manchester, N.H.

Kabari recorded a throw of 14.06 meters in the shot put to win the event at the Coast Guard Invitational. She also finished fourth in the discus, notching a mark of 36.82 meters. Her shot put mark ranks first in the conference.
