Derek Cherney, Amherst College

Amherst College’s Derek Cherney concluded an outstanding lacrosse career this past spring, as the tri-captain was named the NESCAC Player of the Year. Cherney is no stranger to being recognized by the conference, as he was named Rookie of the Year in 2004, Co-Player of the Year in 2005, and was named to the All-NESCAC First Team in all four of his seasons at Amherst. Cherney was also named to the USILA Division III All-America Second Team this season after receiving Honorable Mention in 2004.

As a political science major, Cherney earned NESCAC All-Academic honors in both his junior and senior seasons. After leading the NESCAC in points this past spring (59), Cherney has considered furthering his lacrosse playing career.
