Akilah Bond, Hamilton College
Akilah Bond was one of the most successful field athletes in the history of the Hamilton College women's track and field program.
Bond, who hails from Amherst, Massachusetts, owns indoor school records in the long jump, triple jump and 800-meter relay, and outdoor school records in the long jump, triple jump and 400-meter relay. She is a two-time All-American as she finished in seventh place in the triple jump at both the 2007 and 2009 NCAA Division III indoor championships. She also qualified for the 2008 indoor and outdoor championships for the triple jump.
Bond has earned a number of all-conference awards, including the all-NESCAC team for the triple jump in outdoor track and field in 2006, 2007 and 2008. She finished first in the triple jump at the 2008 NESCAC championships, which were held at Hamilton. She missed most of her final outdoor season when she suffered a leg injury early during her senior campaign. She was Hamilton's indoor track and field representative as a SAAC scholar-athlete award winner in 2009, and was the keynote speaker at a luncheon to honor the SAAC scholar-athletes.
A government major, Bond was honored by the Hamilton athletic department as its female recipient of the 2009 Kiwanis Award.
