Sue Ghosh, Women's Tennis, Amherst College
Sue Ghosh was one of the most consistent players for the Amherst College women’s tennis team during her four years in the Pioneer Valley, helping the Purple & White to three straight NESCAC Championship title matches from 2013-15, a conference title in 2014, a pair of NCAA Division III Championship consolation finals (2013 and 2015), and a national runner-up finish in 2014.
A Gaithersburg, Md. native, Ghosh earned back-to-back Second Team All-NESCAC honors in singles action in 2014 and 2015, and also earned First Team All-NESCAC recognition in doubles play as a junior in 2015. She also picked up ITA All-America status in singles and doubles as a junior, finishing 18th overall in singles action, and fourth in doubles following the 2014-15 campaign.
As a senior, Ghosh posted a 9-13 overall record, and a 5-12 mark from the #1 singles position. In doubles, Ghosh notched a combined record of 18-14 from the #1 doubles slot.
Off the court, Ghosh, who graduated with a degree in environmental studies, led a committee called “Green Athletics” at Amherst which was geared towards increasing environmental sustainability to reduce athletics waste and energy consumption. Through her efforts in laying a solid foundation for the initiative, Ghosh’s long-term plan for Green Athletics is for the program to become an integral part of the Department of Athletics at Amherst.
