Eph three-sport standout Peter Hale fashioned an impressive finish to his running career, winning the 2017 NCAA DIII Indoor Track & Field title in the 3,000 meters (8:17.76) and the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship in the 5,000 meters (14:15.38).

On Feb. 8, 2017, Hale clocked the sixth fastest time in the 3,000 meters (8:09.51) in Division III history at Boston University. The United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) named Hale the National Indoor Athlete of the Year. 

Hale also captured the 2017 Division III New England 5,000-meter title in a meet record time of 14:16.22 on the Ephs’ Lee Track. Additionally, Hale won the 1,500 meters (3:50.42) and the 5,000 meters (14:51.23) at the 2017 NESCAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

A year ago, Hale finished fourth in the 3,000 meters at the NCAA Championships and he earned 2015 All-America honors in cross-country by finishing 16th overall.

A six-time Academic All-NESCAC honoree Hale was named to the 2017 All-Academic All-District I Team and garnered 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-America honors.

A history & English double major, Hale was named a Fulbright Scholar (U.S. State Dept.) and will begin teaching in Germany in the fall of 2017.
