Trinity Leads NESCAC Men's Golf Championship Qualifier

NEWINGTON, Conn. - Trinity holds a five-stroke lead over Williams after day one of action at the 2017 NESCAC Men's Golf Championship Qualifier at Indian Hill Country Club (oar-72; 6,513 yards) in Newington, Conn. The host Bantams shot a 299, followed by the Ephs (304), Tufts (314) and Hamilton (321).


Only three stroke seperate teams in fourth, fifth and sixth place - Hamilton, Amherst (322) and Middlebury (324) heading into Sunday's final round.

Williams sophomore Will Kannegieser led the field on the first day, firing an even-par 72, two strokes better than Trinity senior Nate Choukas and sophomore Cameron Chottiner, who tied for second at 74. Hamilton senior Joe Tigani and Bantam senior Kole Kelly rounded out the top five, each turning in rounds of three-over 75.

Action resumes on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. The top four teams at the end of the qualifying tournament will advance to the spring championship at the site of the qualifier winner. Additionally, the top four individual golfers outside of the top four qualifying teams will be eligible to play in the spring championship event.
