NESCAC Golfers Qualify for the U.S. Men's Amateur Championship

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Williams golfers Sam Goldenring (Florham Park, N.J.) and Will Kannegieser (Minor, Maine) have qualified for the 2018 U.S. Amateur Championship, which will be held at Pebble Beach Golf Links and Sypglass Hill Golf Couse, August 13-19, in California. Additionally, recent Trinity graduate Nate Choukas (Hanover, N.H.) was selected as a first-alternate for the event.

Goldenring and Kannegieser, who will be juniors heading into the 2018-19 season, had the advantage of playing on their home course as Taconic Golf Club in Williamstown played host to a regional qualifying round.

Kannegieser was the medalist of the 36-hole event, finishing with a score of 5-under par 137 (72-65). Goldenring placed second among the 65 golfers with a 3-under par 139 (71-68).

Choukas posted a round of 75 on the first day of competition, but came back to fire a 69 on the final day to finish the event with a two-day total of 144 (+2).
