Hartford, Conn. – First-year forward Nicholas Polsinelli broke a scoreless tie with a goal five minutes into the third period to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 2-0 victory over the visiting Tufts University Jumbos in the quarterfinals of the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Men's Ice Hockey Championship Tournament this afternoon at Williams Rink in the Koeppel Community Sports Center.  Defending NESCAC Champion Trinity, seeded No. 1 in the tournament, improves to 18-5-2 and will host the NESCAC Final Four next weekend.  No. 8-seeded Tufts closes the year with a 5-16-4 record.

Polsinelli backhanded in a rebound off a shot by sophomore defenseman Nick Fiorentino with sophomore forward Adam Anderson also providing an assist. The Bantam defense held Tufts to just three shots in the final period and killed off a penalty, while senior captain forward Anthony Sabitsky stole the puck from the Jumbo defense and scored an insurance goal with 17 seconds on the clock.

Trinity had its chances to score in the first two periods, including a shot off the post by freshman forward Blake Carrick midway through the opening stanza.  Bantam sophomore forward Barclay Gammill missed just wide on a clear look from straight on and had a hard shot from the left wing saved during a Trinity power play in the second period, as Tufts senior goalie Nik Nugnes made four stops during the two-minute session.  Morin had to make back-to-back saves against Jumbo rookie Edward Hannon late in the second period to keep the game 0-0.

Morin finished with 13 saves to earn his fourth shutout of the year, while Nugnes made 41 stops for Tufts.  The team combined for just four penalties and neither team scored on any power plays.  Trinity finished with a 43-to-15 shooting advantage and records its fifth win in a row over the Jumbos and their second against them in as many years in the NESCAC Quarterfinals.
