Higher Seeds Prevail in Men's Squash Championship First Round

HARTFORD, Conn. - The higher seeds each advanced through the first round of the 2013 NESCAC Men's Squash Championship this evening at Trinity's George A. Kellner Squash Center.

Sixth seeded Wesleyan got things going with an 8-1 triumph over 11th seeded Tufts. With their win, the Cardinals punched their ticket to the quarterfinals for the third year in a row. They will face off against third seeded Bates tomorrow at 1:30 p.m.

Seventh seeded Amherst rolled to a 7-2 win over 10th seeded Connecticut College to set up a quarterfinal round matchup with second seeded Williams. The longtime rivals will also meet up at 1:30 p.m. Williams topped the Lord Jeffs 8-1 in the Little Three Championship last weekend. 

In the final match of the night, eighth seeded Hamilton slipped past ninth seeded Colby 5-4 for the second time this season. The Continentals earned the right to face six-time defending champion Trinity tomorrow at noon.

The remaining quarterfinal round match will feature fourth seeded Middlebury and fifth seeded Bowdoin tomorrow at noon.

Advancing teams will meet in the semifinals tomorrow evening.
