WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The top seeds won their respective first-round matches to advance to Saturday's quarterfinals at the 2015 NESCAC Men's Squash Championship held at Williams College's Simon Squash Center.
The first result of the evening found sixth-seeded Wesleyan (10-6) advancing to the quarterfinal round with a 9-0 win over 11th-seeded Tufts. The Cardinals will face third-seeded Middlebury tomorrow.
Seventh-seeded Amherst (6-7) downed tenth-seeded Connecticut College, 8-1, behind six three-set victories to advance to the quarterfinals where the Jeffs will face host Williams tomorrow morning.
In the third and final first-round match of the day, eighth-seeded Bowdoin (3-12) defeated ninth-seeded Hamilton (5-1), 8-1, to earn the right to play top-seeded Trinity in the quarterfinals. The Polar Bears posted come-from-behind wins in two of their three five-set victories.
One consolation match was also played Friday night with Connecticut College (9-13) registering a quartet of 3-1 wins en route to handing Tufts (5-12) an 8-1 loss. Both teams will face Hamilton on Saturday.
