MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - Bowdoin, Colby, and Tufts emerged victorious in the first round of the 2019 NESCAC Men's Squash Championship at Middlebury's Bostwick Family Squash Center on Friday night.
No. 6 Bowdoin (5-6) improved to 3-0 all-time against No. 11 Hamilton (3-9) in NESCAC Championship history with a 9-0 win. The Polar Bears advanced to the quarterfinals for the 13th straight year and will face No. 3 Williams at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday.
No. 7 Tufts (6-8) advanced to the quarterfinals for the first time since 2010 with a 9-0 victory over No. 10 Wesleyan (2-12). The Jumbos, who improved to 5-4 over the Cardinals all-time in the tournament, will meet No. 2 Middlebury at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday.
No. 8 Colby (4-10) recorded a 9-0 win over No. 9 Connecticut College (4-8) to even the all-time series against the Camels to 3-3 in NESCAC Championship action. The Mules move into the quarterfinal round for the sixth straight season and face top-seeded Trinity at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
Connecticut College, Hamilton, and Wesleyan will play in a consolation round robin beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
Saturday's other quarterfinal match features No. 4 Bates versus No. 5 Amherst at 10 a.m.
