MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - Trinity captured its 13th conference title with an 8-1 victory over Williams in Sunday's 2019 NESCAC Men's Squash Championship final at Middlebury College's Bostwick Family Squash Center.
The top-seeded Bantams (14-1) are the only team to win the title since the first NESCAC Championship was held in 2007. Trinity won five of its eight matches in three games. No. 3 Williams (12-10) finished as tournament runner-up for the 10th time.
No. 2 Middlebury (12-5) earned a 5-4 victory over No. 4 Bates (9-8) in the third-place match and finished third for the fourth straight year. The middle of the Panthers' lineup propelled Middlebury to the win as the 4-5-6-7 positions each won matches by a 3-0 score.
No. 5 Amherst (7-8), playing in the fifth-place match for the third straight year, won the top four spots on the ladder to defeat No. 6 Bowdoin (6-8), 6-3.
No. 7 Tufts (7-10), which was playing on Sunday at the NESCAC Championship for the first time since 2010, earned a 5-4 victory over No. 8 Colby (4-13) in the seventh-place match. The Jumbos' victory was fueled by wins at spots 5 through 9.
