HARTFORD Conn. - Bates, Hamilton, and Wesleyan advanced out of the first round of the 2019 NESCAC Women's Squash Championship at Trinity's Kellner Squash Center on Friday night.
No. 6 Bates (9-6) improved to 6-0 all-time against No. 11 Bowdoin (0-12) in NESCAC Championship history with a 9-0 win. The Bobcats advanced to the quarterfinals for the 13th straight year and will face No. 3 Middlebury at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday.
No. 7 Hamilton (9-4) advanced to the quarterfinals for the second straight season with an 8-1 victory over No. 10 Connecticut College (3-9). The Continentals, who improved to 8-0 over the Camels all-time in the tournament, will meet No. 2 Williams at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday.
No. 8 Wesleyan (6-8) recorded a 9-0 win over No. 9 Colby (3-12) to improve to 4-5 against the Mules in NESCAC Championship action. The Cardinals move into the quarterfinal round for the second year in a row and face top-seeded Trinity at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
Saturday's other quarterfinal match features No. 4 Amherst versus No. 5 Tufts at 10 a.m.
Bowdoin, Colby, and Connecticut College will play in a consolation round robin beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
