Hamilton Men Finish Tied for Ninth at NCAA Track & Field Championships

MARIETTA, Ohio - The Hamilton men's track & field team finished tied for ninth on Saturday with 20.0 points at the 2009 NCAA Track & Field Championships hosted by Marietta College. Junior Peter Kosgei (Kapsabet, Kenya) earned his second individual title of the weekend by winning the 5,000-meter run.

Claiming his fifth career national championship, Kosgei topped the field in the 5,000-meter run. Kosgei won his second-consecutive 5,000-meter run national championship in a new Don Drumm Stadium record time of 14:39.03. On Thursday (May 22), he won his third-straight national title in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

The Wartburg (Iowa) College women scored all 52 of their points and the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh men collected 32 of their 46 points on day three to claim the team titles Saturday at the 2009 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

On the men's side, Williams finished behind Hamilton in a three-way tie for 14th with 16.0 points, while Tufts came in tied for 49th. For the women, the Ephs were the top NESCAC team in 15th with 16.0 points and the Jumbos were right behind with 14.0 poins in a two-way tie for 16th. Bates finished in a three-way tie for 38th.
