MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Williams Ephs won the NESCAC Women’s Track & Field title for the sixth straight year and 26th time overall at Middlebury’s Dragone Complex on Saturday.
The Ephs claimed six NESCAC titles and posted 16 top three finishes to compile 165 points. Middlebury was the runner-up with 145.50 points and Bowdoin placed third with 109 points. Tufts (93.50 points), Bates (52.50 points), and Hamilton (52 points) finished fourth, fifth, and sixth, respectively. Connecticut College (48 points), Colby (45.50 points), Wesleyan (38.50 points), Trinity (37.50 points), and Amherst (32 points) rounded out the field.
Bowdoin sophomore Brittney McKinley entered the 100-meter dash with the best time in the league this season and went on to win the event in a time of 12.03 seconds. Hamilton senior Cat Berry defended her title in the 200-meter dash, posting a winning time of 25.60 seconds and also won the 400-meter race with a time of 58.22 seconds to score 20 points for the Continentals. Bates senior Ayden Eickhoff won the NESCAC title in the 800-meters for the second time in her career, clocking in at 2:14.41. She also won the event in 2017.
Williams junior Anna Passannante became the third Eph to win the 1,500-meter race in four years. She crossed the finish line in a winning time of 4:36.27. Middlebury seniors Rory Kelly and Abigail Nadler finished 1-2 in the 5,000-meters. Kelly earned first place with a time of 17:47.74, while Nadler posted a time of 17:52.10. Fellow Panther Kate MacCary took over in the final few laps to win the 10,000-meters and set a new Dragone Track mark with a time of 35:58.49. MacCary is the second Middlebury runner to win the event in four years. Wesleyan junior Sara Pinsonault captured first place in the 3000-meter Steeplechase with a winning time of 11:20.68.
Colby senior Sophie Stoke Cerkvenik entered the 100-meter hurdles with the top time this season and went on to win the event with a time of 14.51 seconds, while Bowdoin senior Sara Ory defended her title in the 400-meter hurdles with a winning time of 1:05.35.
In the relay events, Hamilton claimed the 4x100 title. McKela Kanu, Berry, Marie Steiner, and Willa Rose combined for a time of 49.31 seconds. Williams won the 4x400 relay as the team of Davis Collison, Ella Dunn, Summer-Solstice Thomas, and Megan Powell posted a time of 4:00.31, narrowly edging out the Middlebury squad. The Panthers’ foursome of Katie Glew, Meg Wilson, Anna Willig, and Nicole Johnson won the 4x800 relay, finishing with a time of 9:34.62.
An Eph won the high jump for the fourth year in a row as junior Emma Egan posted a top height of 1.65 meters to claim first place. Egan also captured the NESCAC title in the long jump with a mark of 5.23 meters. Williams made it a clean sweep of the jumping events as sophomore Cailin Stollar won the triple jump (11.43m). Williams sophomore Kelsie Hao added a win in the pole vault, registering a height of 3.81 meters to defend her title.
Connecticut College’s Koko Mensah, the 2017 NESCAC Champion in the women’s shot put, added a second title to her resume. She won the 2019 competition with a throw of 13.71 meters after entering the championship with the top distance this season (14.40m). Trinity’s Peace Kabari, the defending champion, placed second (13.21m). The Camels also went 1-2 in the discus. Senior Emily Senatore defended her title with a winning mark of 43.38 meters, while Mensah was the runner-up (38.60m). Wesleyan sophomore Ivie Uzamere captured the NESCAC title in the hammer throw (47.47m) and Middlebury junior Rebbeca Gorman posted a mark of 41.22 meters to win the javelin.
