BRUNSWICK, Maine – Paul "Hobie" Holbach has announced his resignation as head coach of the Bowdoin College Women's Tennis program.

Holbach had been the head coach of the Polar Bears since 2007 and guided the squad to 160 victories in 12 seasons, including 11 NCAA Tournament appearances. Bowdoin advanced to the national quarterfinals on five occasions in his tenure, including an NCAA semifinal appearance in 2016, while nine different players garnered All-American recognition.

"Hobie guided our women's tennis program to newfound success during his 12 years as our head coach," said Ashmead White Director of Athletics Tim Ryan. "Additionally, he brought a passion for the art of coaching and assisted with the growth and development of members of our team to our campus community.  We are grateful for his efforts to support the members of our program both on and off the court and wish him well as he pursues other opportunities and interests."

An immediate search will begin for his replacement.
