2002 Volleyball Players of the Week

November 11, 2002
Robin Young, Williams
(Sophomore, OH - Andover, Mass.)
Young had 38 kills, 46 digs, 9 service aces, and 4 blocks and passed at a 2.6 efficiency rating in 3 matches to lead Williams to the NESCAC championship. She reached 400 kills and 500 digs on the season in the championship match and she had 17 kills, 20 digs, and 4 service aces in the 5 game victory over bates in the semifinals.

November 4, 2002
Eliza Allen, Wesleyan
(Senior, Middle Hitter - Durango, Colo.)
In 11 games this week, Allen collected 67 kills (6.1 per game) with a .496 hitting percentage. She set a Wesleyan single-match team record with 32 kills against Amherst. On the week, Allen had 10 blocks, 26 digs and 6 aces.

Joyia Chadwick, Williams
(Sophomore, Middle Hitter - Lawrence, Kan.)
Chadwick led Williams to 3-0 wins over Amherst and Wesleyan to take the 2002 Little III Championship. The sophomore had 32 kills and only two errors in the two matches with a .600 hitting percentage. She tallied 49 kills and 19 total blocks and a .461 hit percentage in a 2-1 week.

October 28, 2002
Eliza Allen, Wesleyan
(Senior, Middle Hitter - Durango, Colo.)
In a 4-0 week, Allen logged 90 kills (5.3/game) with a .510 hitting percentage, 14 blocks, 32 digs and 14 aces in 17 games. Allen was named to the all-tournament team at the Coast Guard Classic.

October 21, 2002
Amy Cronin, Tufts
(Junior, Middle Hitter - Kirkland, Wash.)
Facing two of the top four conference opponents, Cronin posted a .395 hitting percentage and a team-high 39 kills during a 2-1 NESCAC Weekend at Colby. She was at her best as Tufts defeated second place and host Colby College, 3-0, registering team highs with 12 kills and five aces, while adding six blocks.

October 14, 2002
Joyia Chadwick, Williams
(Sophomore, Middle Hitter - Lawrence, Kan.)
Chadwick hit .553 for the week with 73 kills (4.3/game) and only 10 errors in 114 attempts including 16 kills and only 2 errors in a win over Amherst. She added 20 total blocks and 6 service aces to pull Williams into a tie for first place.

October 7, 2002
Eliza Allen, Wesleyan
(Senior, Middle Hitter - Durango, Colo.)
Named to the all-tournament team at the Wesleyan Invitational, Allen averaged 5.8 kills/game while playing 10 games. Allen hit .512 with 58 kills, 10 errors and 93 attacks. The senior had 24 kills, 10 blocks, an assist, an ace and 22 digs in a three-game match with Trinity.

September 30, 2002
Cait Cleaver, Colby
(First Year, OH - Kennett Square, Pa.)
Cleaver finished with 58 kills, 63 defensive digs, 20 service aces and 13 blocks (seven solo) in five matches as Colby had a 4-1 week. She had 18 kills, 16 digs, four blocks and three service aces as the Mules came back from a 2-0 game deficit for a 3-2 victory over Babson on Friday at the Brandeis Invitational.

(Sophomore, OH - Andover, Mass.)
On the week, the sophomore outside hitter had 65 kills (3.3/g), 76 digs (3.8/g), and 10 service aces. Young led Williams to a 3-2 win over Muskingum with 21 kills (only 2 errors) and 23 digs. Williams finished the Brandeis Invitational 3-1.

September 23, 2002
Kimberly Prescott, Colby
(Junior, Setter - Buena Park, Calif.)
Prescott had 152 assists in four matches this past week and helped Colby to a 3-0 NESCAC Weekend at Hamilton. Prescott set a school record in a five-game match with 56 assists against Middlebury and also had five kills from her setter position. In a four-game win over Hamilton on Friday, Prescott finished with 46 assists and five service aces.

September 16, 2002
Margaret Demment, Williams
(Sophomore, Setter - Woodland, Calif.)
Demment led Williams to a 6-1 start, including three victories over Cal Lutheran, Whittier and Pomona-Pitzer in California. For the week, Demment collected 48 digs, 11 service aces, and 264 assists in seven matches. In a 3-2 match with Whittier, the sophomore setter recorded 57 assists along with 15 digs.
