HADLEY, Mass. - Wesleyan sophomore outside hitter Lisa Drennan (Ann Arbor, Mich.) has been named the 2006 NESCAC Player of the Year, as determined by the conference coaches. Drennan helped her Cardinal team to a 7-3 conference record this season along with the number-two seed and a semifinal showing in the 2006 NESCAC Volleyball Championship.
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. Third-seeded Amherst (27-4, 7-3 in the NESCAC) defeated top-seeded Williams (25-7, 10-0) in four games on Sunday afternoon to win the 2006 NESCAC Volleyball Championship. After the Ephs won the first game 30-20, the third-seeded Jeffs rallied to win three straight games, 30-27, 30-27, 30-20. With the victory, Amherst earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
HADLEY, Mass. - Williams College finished off NESCAC action on Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 victory over Tufts to cap a perfect 10-0 season as the Ephs will head into the 2006 NESCAC Volleyball Championship with the number-one seed and the right to host this years tournament. The three-day championship kicks off on Friday, Nov. 3, in Williamstown, Mass., with quarterfinal action beginning at 6:00 p.m. The 2006 NESCAC Volleyball Championship will conclude with the final on Sunday, Nov. 5.
