MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - The Middlebury women and the Williams men captured their 13th and 15th NESCAC Championships, respectively, in races held at Middlebury College. The titles were back-to-back for both squads. The Panther women finished with 38 points, followed by Williams (47) and Amherst (108). The Eph men came in with 39 points, followed by Colby (76) and Middlebury (80).
Middlebury's Alison Maxwell took home the title
in the women's race, covering the 6K course with a time of 22:16.8.
On the men's side, Williams' Colin Cotton claimed
individual honors in the 8K event in 24:56.8.
Middlebury placed the top two runners and three of the first six finishers to claim the title. Summer Spillane was 17 seconds behind her teammate to place second, while Adrian Walsh earned a sixth-place finish (22:45.1). Tufts' Audrey Gould came in third (22:33.6), while Savanna Gornisiewicz of Amherst was fifth (22:40.1) to round out the top five.
The Ephs placed three of the top four racers on the men's side, as Bijan Mazaheri finished the event in third place (25:13.3), followed by Aldis Inde (25:17.9) in fourth. Other top five finishers were David Chelimo of Colby, who came in second (25:12.3), and Middlebury's Kevin Wood, who placed fifth (25:22.4).
